Granite Countertop Installation in Chandler & the East Valley

Granite installation is the measuring, fabrication, and fitting of natural granite slabs into countertops and vanities, and East Valley Floors has handled it for Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Tempe, and Queen Creek homes since 1984. We invite you to hand-select your slab, we coordinate fabrication and installation, and we manage the plumbing and appliance re-connections. It starts with a free in-home estimate: (480) 926-3444.

Granite Options

Price Groups: 1 Through 5

We buy from almost all of the importers in town, and we encourage you to visit one or two of our granite suppliers to select your slabs in person. Pricing is grouped from 1 to 5, Price Group 5 is the most expensive. The busier the veining and the more exotic the stone, the higher the group. Busy veining also requires more raw stone, because the pattern needs to be matched across seams.

2 cm vs. 3 cm Thickness

This is the decision most homeowners never hear about, and it changes the finished look:

  • 3 cm granite is the economy option in material cost. It sits directly on your cabinets with no plywood subdeck, and edge profiles are cut into the slab itself. The trade-off: there's no laminated front-edge build-up, and no built-in way to level or correct uneven cabinet tops, you may see the slab meeting the cabinet face, and carpentry or scribe moulding is sometimes needed to close gaps.
  • 2 cm granite installs over plywood, which levels the cabinet tops for a flatter, more finished result. It's laminated into a roughly 4 cm built-up edge with a proper overhang that covers the joint between granite and cabinet, and hides cabinet blemishes. It takes more shop time, which is why it's the more custom-feeling result.

Edges, Finishes, and Cutouts

Edge profiles range from simple eased and beveled edges to full bullnose and ogee. Polish level, sink and cooktop cutouts, faucet-hole drilling, and seam placement are all planned at template, before any stone is cut.

Who Granite Is For: and Arizona Considerations

Granite suits homeowners who want a natural, one-of-a-kind surface and are comfortable with a little maintenance. In Arizona it has a specific advantage over engineered alternatives: natural stone handles intense sun exposure through kitchen windows without the discoloration risk that can affect some resin-based products, and it tolerates hot cookware straight off the stove. Like all natural stone, granite is porous and arrives sealed from the fabricator, with periodic re-sealing part of owning it, which our dry, dusty climate makes worth staying on top of. What Affects Granite Pricing

Every granite quote is built from:

  • Stone group: Price Group 1 through 5, driven by rarity and veining.
  • Slab yield: busy or directional patterns require more stone to match seams.
  • Thickness: 2 cm vs. 3 cm, and any laminated edge build-up.
  • Edge profile complexity: an ogee or full bullnose costs more shop time than an eased edge.
  • Cutouts and details: undermount sinks, cooktops, faucet decks, and backsplash pieces.
  • Removals and re-connections: existing countertop tear-out, plus sink, faucet, and appliance re-connections we coordinate for you.

We'd rather show you these numbers against your actual kitchen than quote a generic per-square-foot figure that changes at template. That's what the free in-home estimate is for.

How Granite Installation Works With East Valley Floors

  1. Free in-home estimate

We measure your kitchen or bath, review cabinet condition, and discuss edge and thickness options.

  2. Slab selection

We invite you to hand-select your stone at one of our suppliers, the slab you approve is the slab you get.

  3. Template

After cabinets are set and appliances are on site, precise templates are made for the fabricator, the partner we use has over 60 years of experience and precision water-jet cutting.

  4. Fabrication

Slabs are cut, edged, and polished; busy-veined stone is laid out for seam matching.

  5. Installation

Countertops are set and leveled, sinks mounted, and we handle the plumbing and appliance re-connections.

  6. Sealing and walkthrough

Stone arrives sealed; we review care with you before we leave.

Care & Maintenance

Wipe spills promptly, especially oils, wine, and citrus. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner, not vinegar or abrasive scrubbers. Re-seal with a penetrating sealer as needed (a water-drop test tells you: if water darkens the stone instead of beading, it's time). Use trivets for very hot cookware out of habit, and cutting boards to protect both the sealer and your knives.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I pick my own granite slab?

We encourage it. Color and veining vary slab to slab, and busy patterns need to be seen at full scale. We'll point you to one or two of our suppliers and help you read the stone for seam matching and yield.

What's the difference between 2 cm and 3 cm granite?

3 cm is thicker material laid directly on cabinets with a simpler edge; 2 cm installs over plywood with a laminated, built-up edge that levels uneven cabinets and gives a more finished overhang.

Does granite need to be sealed in Arizona?

Yes, but it's simple. Granite arrives sealed from the fabricator. Reapply a penetrating sealer when a water drop stops beading. Arizona's low humidity doesn't eliminate the need; dust and daily cooking residue make a good sealer worthwhile.

Can you handle the sink and appliance hookups?

Yes. Our crew coordinates the plumbing and appliance re-connections as part of the installation, so you're not scheduling separate trades for the final step.

Can you match granite to a backsplash or flooring project?

That's our specialty. We routinely combine countertops with decorative tile backsplashes, tile and stone floors, and bathroom vanities in one coordinated project, one estimate, one schedule.
